Programs

Whether you want to learn more about personal safety yourself, or you would like your child or some one you know to learn more, IN-DEFENSE has a program to fit the bill. We have programs for individuals aged 5 years and older.

Children | Teens | Women | Brownies & Girl Scouts | Customized

IN-DEFENSE offers short programs that can be customized to a specific work group, age group or social group.  We will discuss which factors in your world you can influence and control and then how, through recognition, awareness and avoidance, how to reduce your risk.

If you have a group of individuals that would like to hold a program for a group – child, teen or adult – call us and we will work with you to get a program going. Even better, we will bring the program to you!

Our multiple-week, core group of safety programs are R.A.D. programs developed by R.A.D. Systems, Inc. (R.A.D. = Rape Aggression Defense for women and r.a.d. = resist aggression defensively for kids). R.A.D. programs are personal safety and life skill programs for all ages.

By providing you with a “toolbox” of risk recognition and reduction skills as well as physical skills to resist violence and/or harm, our programs will EMPOWER YOU and help to reduce your chances of being a victim. The programs include informational sessions and physical training, with easy to learn and easy to use techniques. These techniques are age appropriate for children and utilize the strengths of women. Throughout the course, you will have the OPTION to use the techniques you have learned in both dynamic training and for full contact attack simulations.

Free Return Policy – come back and practice!

·       Kids can return free of charge, as many times as they want until they turn 12 years of age.

·       Teens and women can return free of charge, anytime, anywhere, as many times as they want.

r.a.d. KIDS (for boys and girls) This program is divided into 3 age groups: 5 – 7 year olds, 8 – 10 year old and 11-12 year olds. (Daisies, Brownies and Girl Scouts can earn a merit patch!). r.a.d. KIDS provides children with the tools they need to recognize, avoid and when necessary escape violence in their world. This comprehensive children’s safety program covers home safety, school safety, out-and-about safety, vehicle safety, stranger tricks, bullies and peer pressure, personal safety and the self-realization of personal power gained through the acquisition of knowledge and physical skills – all taught in an age appropriate manner. Classes provide learning through instruction and role-playing. We don’t leave your children “hanging” on abstract concepts. r.a.d. KIDS believes in three basic but critically fundamental principles in building the self-esteem of children:

1. No one has the right to hurt me because I am special.

2. I don’t have the right to hurt anyone (including myself) unless someone is trying to physically harm me, then I can stop them.

3. If anyone tries to trick or hurt me, it’s not my fault and I can tell.

r.a.d. KIDS provides children with the skills, abilities and realistic options they need to “Not become a victim.” The goal of this program is to enlighten, not frighten children. 4 Weeks, 3 hrs/week, 12 hrs total

R.A.D. Basic Personal Defense (B.P.D.) for Teens

This program has been developed by IN-DEFENSE and blends the
KIDS and the Woman’s programs to create a program suitable for teenaged women. This safety program still teaches safety awareness in an age appropriate context for teens, but uses the woman’s physical skills exercises to teach coordination, confidence and defense against abduction. The last class includes an optional simulation.

Suitable for young women in their middle school and high school years who are too old for the KIDS program, but perhaps want to wait before taking the woman’s program. 4 Weeks, 3 hrs/week, 12 hrs total

Customize a R.A.D. Program for a group of Teens or Women you know!!

Would you like to hold a special program for a group of women that know each other or perhaps don’t "fit" into the programs above? Talk to us. We have, and are willing to tailor a program to your needs. Perhaps you work with a group of women that would like to take the class together? Perhaps you feel your middle school aged daughter is too old for the KIDS program, but not quite ready for the woman’s program? Get a group of 12 or more people together, and we will give you a program that meets your needs. We will even bring it to where you live/work if you are in the Greater Boston Area.

Business Express Safety Awareness Seminars

In addition to our multiple week programs on safety awareness and self-defense, IN-DEFENSE offers short courses that focus on particular categories of safety.

Each seminar is designed to increase your knowledge of simple things in your everyday life that can increase or mitigate our exposure to situations that are “risky”. Knowing what these situations are and recognizing them when we encounter them helps to put us in the driver’s seat in controlling how much they affect our lives. Some examples of safety topics: home safety, out-and-about, transportation (personal and public), traveling (domestic and international), and identity theft.

All of these short courses are tailored to be 1 – 2 hours in length and would include time for questions and answers. The extent to which topics are covered would depend upon the total time allotted for the seminar.
